Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZ Institute of Architects' Canterbury Awards shortlist has been announced, and both Waimarie – Lincoln University Science Facility and The Arts Centre Bridge, have been nominated for a local award.

Waimarie - Lincoln University (NZ)'s new science facility, designed by Warren and Mahoney in association with Lab-Works, creates a much-needed environment for people to come together to overcome today’s significant challenges through collaboration. An epicentre for education and research in the land-based disciplines, as well as a hub for inter-organisational partnerships, industry-wide collaborations and centres of excellence, the facility includes state-of-the-art teaching, research and collaboration spaces complemented by multi-use flexible workspace and social zones, all set within a biodiverse park-like environment.

The Arts Centre Bridge, a symbolic pedestrian sky bridge, now links two newly restored buildings and marks the final phase of post-earthquake renewal and repair at the historic Christchurch Arts Centre complex. Working closely with The Arts Centre, we designed a linking form that sits obliquely between brick and limestone heritage façades - a piece of artwork inspired by the vibrant colours and landscape forms of Rita Angus’ paintings, celebrating the precinct’s rich history of institutions, landmarks and pioneers.
